Kyla Smith has been with PCO since 2003, serving in a variety of roles including Organic Inspector, Certification Specialist, Policy Director, Certification Director, and currently, Certification Policy Advisor. In her current position, she leads certification policy analysis and development, supports compliance initiatives, and provides program training.

From January 2021 through January 2026, Kyla served as the certifier representative on the National Organic Standards Board, contributing to the development and advancement of organic standards and policies.

Kyla holds a master’s degree in Transformative Leadership and Social Change from the Maryland University of Integrative Health (formerly Tai Sophia Institute). She is also an Environmental Leadership Program Fellow and a graduate of Leadership Centre County.

Outside of work, Kyla enjoys reading, pretty much any outdoor activity, and spending time with her friends and family, especially her husband, Ben, and their two daughters, Stella and Hazel!
