Organic Cropping Systems for Agricultural Professionals

(A Professional Development Course)

PCO, in collaboration with Penn State Extension, will host a day of workshops to assist agricultural educators in serving transitioning and certified organic producers.

Course topics and outcomes include:

  • Overview of organic concepts and practices
  • Organic Certification and Transition requirements
  • Results and lessons learned on reducing tillage in organic feed and forage cropping systems based on Penn State on-going research-station and on-farm research
  • Action Plan development:   Participants will develop an action plan with PCO staff and the trainers that they will use to work with farmers and producers who are interested in transitioning.

We encourage agricultural professionals, including extension, government agency, and public or private sector educators and consultants, who work with crop and forage producers in the Northeast Region to attend.

This is a free event and lunch will be provided.

Attendees will also receive Penn State’s Organic Crop Production Guide!

CCA/Pesticide credits available.

Public sector educators may apply for mileage reimbursement.
