Producers, educators, and conservationists are invited to attend a grazing, soil health, and pasture walk field day on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, 9 a.m. to noon, at the Jeff B. Stoltzfus, Jr. Farm, 34 Lakeview Rd, Kirkwood PA.
Learn how Jeff, who operates a preserved farm and is a 100% grass-fed organic dairy operation, has worked to build healthy pastures and successful grazing rotations. Presenters also will outline best management practices for pastured livestock nutrition and building soil health, including a rainfall-erosion simulator demonstration.
Exhibitors and educators attending include: Lancaster Farmland Trust, Natural by Nature, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Lancaster County Conservation District, and Penn State Extension. The field day is hosted by the Lancaster Field Office of the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).
The field day is open to the public and free of charge. No registration is required. Some walking over uneven terrain is planned.
